Moldovan MPs approve political truce in humanitarian crisis triggered by pandemic

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today voted a Declaration on a political truce in the humanitarian crisis triggered by the pandemic in Moldova. The decision was submitted by the head of the parliamentary group PRO MOLDOVA, Andrian Candu.     

The Declaration reads that the COVID-19 pandemic, which started in 2020, has seriously hit the entire mankind. ‘’Being aware of the seriousness of the situation, Moldova’s parliament commits to act, beyond the political positions and electoral promises, to preserve the united society and prepared to act in a consolidated way and in consensus, in order to overcome the problems we are facing,’’ the Declaration reads.  

Under the document, the lawmakers commit to act together, beyond the political, ideological positions or mutual likings, in order to identify and promote solutions on more strategic sectors. Thus, the following priorities are emphasized: the immunization of 70 per cent of the country’s residents in the next 12 months; de-blocking of the foreign assistance; measures for backing the business environment and preservation of jobs; measures for the support of disadvantaged groups and of pensioners; enhancement of the capacities of the medical and education systems; resuming the reforms in the vital fields, such as justice, economy, public administration.    

”While ascertaining the need of a national consensus during the pandemic crisis, we declare a truce to all political disputes and commit to direct all our efforts and capacities to diminish the effects of the pandemic,’’ the declaration also reads.
