Huawei company interested in developing IT projects in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- Huawei company representatives expressed interest in developing the business partnership in the Republic of Moldova. To this end, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi had a meeting today with the representatives of the Chinese company. The main topic of the discussions was the examination of the possibilities of implementation and development of ICT projects in the Republic of Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Currently, Huawei is a strategic partner of local communications service operators, offering over 100 jobs in the Republic of Moldova. 

The premier welcomed the Chinese company interest in developing other digital projects in Moldova, aimed at facilitating citizens' access to IT services, given the pandemic situation determined the world even more to emigrate to the online space.

In this context, Ciocoi pointed out Moldova's need to strengthen the capacities of the education system in terms of online education, respectively, the government is open to examine opportunities for collaboration in this field.

Given the pandemic, the premier appreciated the support of Huawei company, by donating 30,000 protective medical masks and 1,000 protective equipment to Moldovan public authorities to enhance the capacity to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.

Huawei is a Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer and global provider of ICT infrastructure. It develops integrated solutions in the fields of: telecommunications networks, IT, smart devices and cloud services.

In 2019, Huawei contributed about 15 million lei in income taxes to the public budget of the Republic of Moldova.
