One hundred institutions of Moldova endowed with equipment for inclusive education

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ - The equipment and teaching materials needed for the inclusive education, purchased within the Education Reform in Moldova Project, have been distributed to those 100 resource centres for inclusive education at education institutions from Moldova. The equipment and the teaching materials today were presented at an online event, with the participation of representatives of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry (MECC).   

According to MECC, the children with special education requirements, psycho-teachers and the support teachers will benefit from specialized equipment and special materials of learning necessary for children’s successful inclusion, such as: devices for following the attention, educative robots, digital magnifying glasses, voice recorders, sets for the formation of the visual memory, devices for reproducing more messages, devices for phonology and communication, devices for gripping the pencil, keyboards with enhanced visibility, speaking tables, readers of pictures, speaking fountain pens, joysticks  with three handles, hearing devices,  first-aid kit for hearing devices, etc.    

At the same time, the resource centres were endowed with IT equipment: tablets, laptops, printers/photocopying devices/scanners, projectors, etc. Those 300 tablets and 100 laptops were endowed also with specialized software, which will facilitate the education process, depending on the needs of each child.   

The ensuring of a qualitative inclusive education in each school where children with special needs study is one of the basic goals set within the Education Reform in Moldova Project. In this respect, along with endowing of the education institutions, support teachers and psycho-teachers are trained and the schools renovated within the project are adapted to the children with special needs, being endowed with access platforms and lifts. About 13.3 million lei was allocated from the budget of the Education Reform in Moldova Project for the endowment of the resource centres for inclusive education with specialized equipment and special learning and teaching materials for hildren with special education requirements and/or disabilities.     

The Education Reform in Moldova Project is a specific investment loan provided by the World Bank, implemented in April 2013 – April 2022, which backs Moldova’s government through financing activities which will strengthen the quality of the education and will lead to a more efficient education sector.
