Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The draft on the giving of the vote of confidence to the action programme and the entire list of the government today was not discussed at the parliament plenary meeting over the lack of quorum. Subsequently, the MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the Shor Party and For Moldova reiterated their support for the candidate earlier put forward for the office of prime minister, Vladimir Golovatiuc, and walked out of the session hall.

Although at the beginning of the meeting, 89 lawmakers were present, the PSRM parliamentary faction and the For Moldova parliamentary platform left the session hall. Thus, the lack of quorum was ascertained and the attempt of swearing in office of the Grosu cabinet failed.

The today’s events in parliament were criticized by the nominated candidate for position of prime minister, Igor Grosu. ‘’They showed that they cannot manage the crises of Moldova, especially the pandemic crisis. I know that the snap elections represent the only solution to clean the parliament; yet, being aware of the serious situation in the country, we were ready to assume responsibility. Yet, today we have got a proof that most lawmakers of the parliament never think about the good of the people,’’ Grosu said.

The parliament will hold a plenary meeting on 26 March at 10:00, with the agenda approved at the 24 March meeting of the parliament’s standing bureau.
