Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/- The state could cover the costs of individual prostheses needed for the surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumors of the head, neck and musculoskeletal system and patients with anophthalmia regardless of etiology. Parliament approved today a draft law amending the Law on health care, submitted as a legislative initiative by MP of the PAS Faction, ACUM bloc Dan Perciun.

The expenses would be covered from the Compulsory Health Insurance Budget managed by the National Medical Insurance Company (CNAM).

Currently, the CNAM covers only the costs incurred by patients diagnosed with cancer, which disadvantages other categories of patients who need to be supported by the state.

According to statistics presented in the informative note of the draft, one hundred prostheses are made annually, of which 70% are for a fee (2,900 lei per case).

The draft will be approved in second reading.
