Gagauzia residents celebrate Hederlez

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- The popular holiday of Gagauzia -Hederlez, marked on 6 May will be held without spectators this year, due to the pandemic.
According to the authorities of Gagauzia, the events agenda will be carried out online. "All the houses of culture from the autonomy, the ethnographic museums, the artistic collectives will be involved in carrying out this plan. Also, we will launch a video with the anthem of the Hederlez holiday, with the participation of 250 artists ", said Marina Semionova, head of the Culture Department in the Comrat executive, quoted by gagauzinfo.md.
On this occasion, Gagauz governor Irina Vlah sent a congratulatory message, saying "this is the main celebration for the culture of Gagauzia, or culture is the key element that unites people in a nation." "The mission of the Hederlez holiday is to preserve the traditions of the Gagauz people, uniting us in a strong family."
Hederlez is one of the main holidays of Gagauzia, being marked every year on the day when the Orthodox Christians of the old rite celebrate St. George, patron of agriculture and livestock farmers.
Last year, the events were postponed by Comrat authorities, due to the pandemic.
