Third stage of COVID vaccination launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/- Members of the National Committee for Coordinating Vaccination approved today the contingent of people of the third stage of vaccination against COVID-19, which are to be immunized starting today.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the third stage of vaccination of the general population will begin with the immunization of people working in the following areas: processing, distribution and marketing of basic foods (bakery, dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables) ; water plants, water treatment, transportation and distribution; power plants, production and transmission of electricity; gas production, transmission and distribution units; units for the production, transport and distribution of medicines and medical devices; transport of people and goods. Also the third stage includes employees of the special telecommunications, radio and national television service; hotel and restaurant workers; hairdressers and employees of body maintenance centers; theater workers; bank employees, postal staff, representatives of religious denominations. 

At the same time, the first and second stages of vaccination continue, which involves the immunization of medical workers, people over 60 years of age, those with comorbidities and aged 18-60 years, who have comorbidities and for whom COVID-19 infection increased risk of severe forms and even death.

Authorities announce that more vaccination centers will be opened nationwide in the coming period. Today, the Vaccination Center will be inaugurated in Bălți, and in the coming days it is expected to organize another center at Moldexpo.

So far, 185,292 people have got vaccinated in our country.
