Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu, speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Minister of Education, Culture and Research Lilia Pogolșa conveyed messages today on International Children Day.

The message reads “we are obliged to do everything in our power so that all children in our country, around the world have a happy, protected childhood and the chance to raise happy people. And it is in our power to build our state so that every child feels safe, together with his family - on International Children Day and every day ”.

A congratulatory message also came from the leadership of the Legislature.

"On International Children's Day, we, as adults, need to think once more if we are to do everything we can to give the young generation a happy, prosperous childhood, a good education and to protect them from disease and hardship. They will do just as well in life as the warmth, kindness, and love they receive now. We must do everything in our power to make this beautiful period of life happy and full of joy ", the message of speaker Zinaida Greceanii reads.

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Lilia Pogolșa wanted to note that the whole society and each adult must be involved in creating a child-friendly environment, environment without violence, abuse and neglect.

"As Minister of Education, Culture and Research and as a parent, I urge society as a whole and every adult to get involved in creating a child-friendly environment, an environment free of violence, abuse and neglect. Only through the assumed involvement of us, of adults, can we offer children best conditions for development. The child must be treated with respect, and the state is obliged to respect his rights. Society can be considered multilaterally developed insofar as it ensures, including children, the opportunity to participate in life and build it with dignity. This is the reason why I encourage you to get involved in the decision-making process at the family, school, community level, to be aware of the right to be heard, to be consulted and to express your opinion freely. I urge you to always be thirsty for knowledge, involvement, to have a zest for life and achievements that will make you proud. You are the precious resource of novelty and progress ", the message says.

International Children's Day is marked annually on 1 June. The event began in 1925, when the World Conference on Child Welfare was held in Geneva and the Declaration on Protection of Child Rights was adopted.
