Block of flats meant for families with many children made available for living in south Moldova city

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - A block of flats meant for families with many children, young civil servants and people with disabilities has been made available for living in the southern Cahul city.  

According to the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM), those 32 social dwellings were constructed with the support of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). The project’s value is of 920,000 euros. As much as 64 per cent of the sum was provided by CEB and 36 per cent represented the contribution, including the non-financial one, of the local public authorities. The dwellings are finished turnkey and are endowed with sanitary units, autonomous heating system, PVC windows, interior doors, whitewashed walls and ceilings, whetstone floor, laminated.    

Attending the event was Agriculture Minister Ion Perju, who handed the apartment keys to the first residents.    

Ion Perju thanked the foreign partners, experts of the Council of Europe Development Bank, who appreciated the progress made and instructed to continue the cooperation.  

In 2014-2020, 556 social dwellings were made available for living in 12 districts of Moldova. The social flats are built with the support of CEB, which provides Moldova with a loan worth 13.4 million euros for a repayment period of 20 years and a grace period of five years.
