Water supply works of four villages in Leova district nearing completion

Chisinau, 29 June /MOLDPRES/- Over 12,000 citizens from Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui localities in Leova district will benefit from improved water services. The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union and is already at the stage of construction of internal aqueduct networks, which represents about 88% of the total volume of works.

According to the South Regional Development Agency (ADR), the aqueduct network will have a total length of 99 km. The construction works within the project started at the end of September 2020. "So far, the construction of 86.5 km of the network has been completed, this being carried out in a proportion of 87.5%", ADR Sud said.

The total cost of the construction works within the project "Improving the water supply services of Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui localities from Leova district" is over 91 million lei, of which about 10 million lei represents the local contribution of the beneficiaries .

Under this investment measure, the contractor also built two water tanks and five water disinfection plants with sodium hypochlorite. The project also provides for the connection of 3409 consumers to the newly built water distribution networks, of which 2983 connections have already been made.

As a result of the implementation of this investment measure, 12100 citizens of these localities are expected to benefit from improved and sustainable access to water supply services.

The project Improvement of water supply services of Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca and Cupcui localities in Leova district is funded by the European Union and implemented by ADR Sud and the project Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova (MSPL). MSPL is funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the Agency for International Cooperation of Germany Moldova in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.
