Policemen find drugs worth more than six million lei in Moldova

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the department for investigations of offences related to drugs of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI) have de-structured the illicit activity of a crime ring specialized in the sale of drugs of various types, through online shops. Following searches carried out by law-enforcers today, 12 people were detained and drugs worth over six million lei  were found.  

According to the police, 29 searches were carried out and 12 people aged between 18 and 35 years were detained; they had roles of messenger, operator, organizer and leader of crime ring.   

The ring was documented during three months and on this period law-enforcers found out that its members had had well-established rules of communication, subordination and discipline. The crime ring members were daily getting incomes worth over 20,000 lei from the sale of drugs.  

The drugs were hidden in less agglomerated places and the coordinates and photos with the drugs’ placement were submitted through the Telegram application to the ‘’operator’’, who was serving the ring’s interests.   

Following the intervention of the police, 12 people were detained, with temporary residence in the Chisinau city and during searches made at the homes of the crime ring’s members, policemen took over 15 kg of drugs of various types, among which: PVP, hydroponic marijuana, Ecstasy pills, MDMA, Hashish, amphetamine, cocaine, LSD stamps, ethno-botanical plants. Also, policemen found and raised mobile phones, computers, bank cards, small electronic weighers.     

Seven criminal files were opened on this case and the suspects were detained for 72 hours. If found guilty, the suspects run the risk of being sentenced to up to 15 years of imprisonment.
