Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/- Two men, including an employee of the Driver Qualification Section of Chisinau within the Public Services Agency have been detained by CNA in a case on corruption scheme with driving licenses.

According to the National Anticorruption Center / CNA /, the ASP official allegedly promised the detained man to help him take the tests for obtaining a driving license, without the person having the necessary knowledge. For his services, he allegedly claimed and received a bribe of 800 euros.

Following the searches, the law enforcement officers picked up several mobile phones, which will be examined to identify possible traces of the crime. Also, a green plant substance with a specific marijuana odor was picked up from the ASP employee's home.

Earlier this year, the CNA and prosecutors investigated a corruption scheme through which driving licenses were fraudulently issued. About 100 people would have obtained permits, without being evaluated, and for this they would have paid amounts between 500 and 2000 euros to employees of the Public Services Agency and to some intermediaries. Currently, several people are under criminal investigation for influence peddling, active and passive corruption.

If found guilty, the two detained men risk a criminal fine, up to 7 years in prison and deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for a period of time.
