Moldovan Reintegration Policies Bureau's commentary on death of young man from Transnistrian region

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Reintegration Policies Bureau has taken note in connection with a tragic incident which occurred in the Transnistrian region on 16 July 2021, in the wake of which a 19-year-old man, enlisted in the pseudo-military structures from the left bank of Dniester, was shot during alleged exercises.   

In connection with this fact, we demand that the law-enforcement bodies investigate this incident urgently and undertake the legal actions necessary and we also draw attention to the Office of Ombudsman and international partners to the need to monitor this case as a priority and provide all forms of assistance available and relevant in this respect.   

To learn more details about the circumstances of this case, the concerned addressing will be submitted through the channel of dialogue of the political representatives, with the concomitant informing of the international mediators and observers within the 5+2 format of negotiations.

We remind that this is not the first tragic case, which results in the loss of human lives, in unclear circumstances and the continuation of situations of this kind trigger quite great concerns and prompts the indispensability of mobilizing the efforts of all internal and external actors with intervention leverages, in order to prevent and counteract the risks which lead to such situations, to return to the observance of the fundamental human rights and freedoms and defend the residents living on both banks of Dniester through all means possible.    

The Bureau vehemently condemns the actions and activities illegally carried out in Moldova and which, through their irresponsible character, expose to imminent risks the citizens’ live and health condition, as well as harm their inalienable rights.
