Prosecutors initiated searches in corruption case at Design Institute

Chisinau, 9 August /MOLDPRES/- The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, with the support of the National Anticorruption Center, today conducts simultaneous searches at over 55 addresses, targeting both officials of the Design Institute for Land Use (IPOT) and beneficiaries of some companies.

The case was initiated in early 2021 on abuse of office, passive corruption, active corruption and influence peddling, and following the investigations the prosecutors documented the illicit actions of the officials of the Design Institute.

"More precisely, according to the evidence, between March and July 2021, IPOT specialists allegedly demanded and received from individuals and beneficiaries of some companies amounts between 250 and 2000 euros. In exchange for these amounts, the officials diminished the soil credit in the study for the lands owned by the beneficiaries of the pedological investigations, thus prejudicing the budget of the local public administrations in particularly large proportions ”, indicates the General Prosecutor's Office.

The criminal investigation actions are ongoing, and the Prosecutor's Office will return along the way.
