Festival in Romania to raise funds for reconstruction of Chisinau Philharmonic

Chisinau, 10 August /MOLDPRES/- The Royal Opera Festival Virginia Zeani in Romania will raise financial funds for the reconstruction of the National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevici in Chisinau. A special edition of this festival will take place on August 20-22, in public spaces and cultural centers in Târgu Mureș, Romania.
According to a press release of the organizers, the event is a reverence to Virginia Zeani, one of the great sopranos of the world, who was born in Transylvania.
"The Virginia Zeani Opera Festival has assumed, by signing an agreement, the role of partner and mediator in the fundraising campaign for the reconstruction of the Chisinau Philharmonic. We are with the authorities, the musicians and the Bessarabian public. They lost a center with immense symbolic value ", mentioned the director of the Festival, Mihai Jurgiu.
Director of the National Philharmonic Serghei Lunchevici Svetlana Bivol said that the institution should make an active campaign to raise funds for reconstruction, together with music lovers in the Republic of Moldova and the diaspora and with reliable partners in Europe and international. On 24 September 2020, a strong fire took place at the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic in Chisinau, which the firefighters managed to completely extinguish the next day. The ceiling of the main hall of the building collapsed.
