Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/- Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo today sent a complaint to the Constitutional Court to reviewing the constitutionality of the legal provisions that established the General Prosecutor's capacity as a full member of the Supreme Security Council.

According to the press service of the institution, the decision to notify the Court in this regard occurs following the last meeting of the Supreme Security Council on August 10, 2021, "in which the CSS President objected to the Prosecutor General's lack of prosecution of several persons including representatives of the current parliamentary opposition, while calling for the reporting of several pending criminal cases ”.

"The prosecutor's office considers such an approach to be inadmissible and against the law, which impairs the separation and balance of power in the state, and therefore cannot be tolerated in the future," the statement said.

"Taking into account the situation and established jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, we consider it necessary to suspend the action of the contested provisions by which the Prosecutor General was established as an ex-officio member of the Supreme Security Council," the statement said.
