Moldova to get 24.8 million euros from World Bank for people vaccination

Chisinau, 16 September /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will benefit from additional funding, amounting to 24.8 million euros as loan for implementing the vaccination process against COVID-19 infection nationally. To this end, the government yesterday approved the ratification of the Financing Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association on Emergency response to COVID-19 - additional financing project, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The funds will be used for the purchase of vaccines, investments in cold chain systems, development of health information systems, medical waste management, as well as the provision of technical assistance to strengthen the capacity to implement the vaccination process.

Moldova will be able to purchase vaccines from various sources, including directly from manufacturers or through the COVAX platform and from other states that have additional stocks of vaccines, taking into account the quality-price ratio, regulatory standards, capacity of the national immunization system, as well as the delivery time.

The financing agreement was signed by President Maia Sandu on 9 August. The deadline for implementation of the Agreement is before 30 April 2023.
