Moldovan-French officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală had a meeting yesterday with head of the Representation of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) for Central and Eastern Europe Eric Poppe. The French official signed the Partnership Convention on the revitalization of the Bilingual Classes Project.
The convention was previously signed by the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the French Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, the French Alliance in Moldova.
During the meeting, Anatolie Topală referred to the actions carried out with the support of the OIF: supporting the further implementation of the Bilingual Classes Project; carrying out training activities for French language teachers; awarding master's and doctoral scholarships in the field of French; equipping school libraries with French language textbooks; carrying out joint research, development and innovation projects by the profile organizations from Moldova and those from Central and Eastern Europe or other AUF member regions, as well as organizing researchers' mobility programs.
Eric Poppe mentioned said "we rely on the support of MEC in achieving the goals and our collaboration will boost in the next period ".
The Partnership Convention on the revitalization of the Bilingual Classes Project was signed in Chisinau on September 2, during the visit to Moldova by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Ives Le Drian.
Currently, in the Republic of Moldova, French is studied in 987 schools by about 127,823 thousand students. In higher education, French as a specialty is studied in 8 educational institutions by about 350 students.
