Moldovan president attends celebration of centenary of Mihai Eminescu National Theater

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu participated yesterday evening in an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Mihai Eminescu National Theater, the presidential press service has reported.

"I went up with emotion, yesterday, on the stage of the National Theater Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau to celebrate together with the actors, directors, workers behind the curtain 100 years of this cultural institution. The National Theater is a true symbol of our country and I am honored that the events dedicated to this jubilee take place under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova. I was glad that, on March 27, President Klaus Iohannis also joined this initiative, on which occasion, once again, I thanked Romania for supporting cultural projects in Moldova ", Maia Sandu said.

The head of state said that the stage of the National in Chisinau, its walls bear the memory of a whole generation of legendary figures, who made history and changed history. Proof is also the retrospective of a century of theater, which the actors from Mihai Eminescu offered us.

"I expressed my respect for the forerunners of theatrical art in Moldova, but also for the effort and talent of today's team of the National Theater. I thanked them for their dedication and, as a sign of appreciation, I awarded some honorary titles to well-known names of this theater. These are names that will surely remain engraved in the history of the national scene. Happy birthday, Mihai Eminescu National Theater! ", Maia Sandu said.
