Moldova, Qatar speak out for boosting bilateral relations

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a discussion with Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Moldova   Hamad Rashid Al-Athba, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.  

The officials tackled possibilities of advancing the bilateral cooperation on more dimensions, especially in the commercial and economic sector, as well as the attraction of Qatari investments in Moldova.  

“We count on the support of the State of Qatar in the implementation of joint projects and we encourage the participation of investors in Moldova, so that we together turn to good account possibilities of commercial exchanges and opportunities of economic cooperation,’’ Igor Grosu.

In this respect, the officials also discussed the possibility to sign a treaty on the avoidance of double taxation between Moldova and Qatar, as well as the liberalization of tourist visas, which would lead to the increase in the number of visits to Moldova of Qatari tourists and potential investors.    

Hamad Rashid Al-Athba confirmed the openness of the State of Qatar to boost the relations with Moldova and to promote opportunities of investments in Moldova.   

In the context, the officials spoke out for the creation of a friendship group between the parliament of Moldova and the Consultative Assembly of the State of Qatar, in order to promote joint initiatives.     

The parliament speaker thanked the government of the State of Qatar for the support provided to Moldova, through the providing of humanitarian assistance, meant for improving the services of the medical system, especially in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
