ANSA to verify import, marketing of pomegranates from Turkey

Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) has boosted control on import and trade of pomegranates from Turkey.
"Following the implementation of controls at border inspection posts, the Agency's inspectors identified batches of pomegranates from the Republic of Turkey with maximum permissible limits of exceeded pesticide residues, namely Acetamiprid," ANSA said.
According to the institution, the economic operators responsible for the import of non-compliant pomegranate were drawn up reports on contravention and the prohibition of placing non-compliant food products on the market, and they will be destroyed, in accordance with the legislation in force.
To protect public health and to verify the safety of imported consignments, ANSA announces that it has intensified controls at Border Inspection Posts with sampling to verify compliance with the maximum permissible limits of pesticide residues in all consignments of pomegranates from Turkey.
