Man to be investigated for not declaring over 100 thousand euros at customs

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/- A 43-year-old man from Leova was sent to trial by PCCOCS prosecutors because he avoided at Chisinau International Airport declaring 100 thousand euros he had in his hand luggage.
According to the PCCOCS, the smuggling attempt took place in September this year, when on leaving the country, on boarding for Istanbul, he made use of the passage inscribed "nothing to declare."
Subsequently, the amount was detected and collected by the representatives of the Customs Service, who carried out the criminal investigation, under the leadership of the PCCOCS prosecutors. The man did not admit his guilt, declaring that the money was intended to return a debt.
At the request of the prosecutors, seizure was applied to the funds, with their deposit at the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Property of the NAC and the disposition of their subsequent confiscation, for the benefit of the state.
If found guilty, the man risks 4 to 10 years in prison.
