Chisinau, London governments opt for development of bilateral cooperation in key areas

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/- Opportunities to boost Moldovan-British bilateral relations were discussed in London on Monday at meetings between Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and British officials, to the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

In the discussion with Wendy Morton, Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for the European Neighborhood and the USA, the parties expressed the openness to make the most of the provisions of the Strategic Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Great Britain, signed in late 2020.

In this context, the Prime Minister reiterated the Government's interest in launching negotiations with the British side to sign a joint agreement on cooperation in the social protection sector, as provided for in the above-mentioned Agreement, but also an agreement on the conversion of driving licenses.

The assistance provided by the United Kingdom was another topic on the agenda. Natalia Gavrilița thanked the British side for assistance in good governance, fight against corruption and justice reform. "Projects implemented with the involvement of civil society organizations, media institutions and national and international experts provide support for genuine reforms in the fight against systemic corruption," the prime minister said.

On November 15-16, Natalia Gavrilița pays a working visit to London, on Capital Market Day of Moldova at the headquarters of the Stock Exchange in the capital of Great Britain.
