Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today accepted the draft government decision on the approval of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Lithuania on the conversion and mutual recognition of the driver’s licences, signed on 7 October this year, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The provisions of the present agreement will provide the Moldovan citizens, with permanent or temporary residence in Lithuania, a string of benefits, such as the exemption from schooling and additional examination when changing the driver’s licences and the expenses related to this process, free movement in international traffic, including through the facilitation of concluding labour contracts.

„This is a quite important draft for the Diaspora citizens; the conversion and mutual recognition of driver’s licences is a priority for us; please, let us continue working for the benefit of the citizens,’’ Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said.

The agreement continues the measures of Moldova’s foreign policy, aimed at developing and strengthening the good relations with the European Union member states. Thus, through this document, both the citizens of Moldova and of Lithuania will benefit from the right to convert the driver’s licence, without taking the theoretical and practical exams, which meets the interests of both states.
