Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has conveyed a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of the Agriculture and Processing Industry Employee, marked today, the presidential press service reported.

„I convey homage and thoughts of gratitude to all those who till the land. If we can enjoy a piece of bread on the table today, this is due to Your effort and sacrifice,’’ the message reads.

According to the head of state, the people from more countries know and appreciate the taste of apples and plums from Moldova; our nuts can be found on shelves of big European shops and wines win medals at the most important world contests. Yet, the president noted, to preserve this fame of agrarian country, which Moldova has won many years ago, and to make it work for the country‘s benefit, we must modernize the agricultural sector. ‘’We should invest in technologies, in order to make the agriculture more sustainable and more resistant to the climate change and we should increase the processing industry, in order to meet the farmers’ needs,’’ Maia Sandu said.

The process of agriculture’s modernization will not be a simple process either for the state or for the farmers, the head of state specified, as both investments and dedicated people are necessary, in order to succeed. ‘’This is the only way, in order to have an agriculture which is to meet the present quality standards, to export to the largest markets of the world and to thus be more profitable and to ensure the well-being of its employees. I am sure that we can cover this way together,’’ President Maia Sandu said in her message conveyed on the occasion of the Day of the Agriculture and Processing Industry Employee.
