Chisinau, January 25 / MOLDPRES /- Central Electoral Commission will request the Parliament to interpret two articles of Law No436 on local public administration.
The deputy head of the central electoral authority, Pavel Postică, said today at a press conference that the CEC will ask the Parliament to interpret articles 28 and 33 of the above-mentioned law.
According to the official, MPs should determine whether "it is necessary to have a four-month continuity to establish the impossibility of a local elected official to exercise his duties and whether the provisions apply in case of suspension or interruption of the local elected office" .
"We request the interpretation of these articles by the legislature in order to exclude any interpretations in favor or against some decisions adopted by the central electoral authority," Postica said.
In today's meeting, the Central Electoral Commission did not have unanimity to establish the date of the new local elections in Păulești, Călărași district, where for four months the mayor of the locality was unable to perform his duties.
Several members of the CEC claimed that there was no continuity of four months of inactivity because the local elected official interrupted his term.
