Moldovan capital has 4 million lei to develop alternative transport

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/-  General Directorate of Public Transport and Communications of the Chisinau Municipal Council has four million lei to develop alternative transport this year.

The directorate said it had held a planning meeting of activities for this year, which was also attended by representatives of the non-governmental organization Chisinau Cyclists' Alliance.

Priorities for the development of alternative transport in the city were discussed at the meeting. The main priorities are related to drawing foreign experts in the development of the bicycle infrastructure network for the city of Chisinau; the acquisition of goods for the purpose of developing routes for cyclists and other road users; evaluation and revision of the draft Strategy for the development of alternative transport, including preparation of documents for its presentation and approval in the Municipal Council.

In 2022, four million lei are scheduled for the development of alternative transport in the capital. Works will be carried out for the arrangement of bicycle parking lots, the lowering of the curbs to facilitate their movement and pilot routes will be created.
