Chisinau, 16 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- The National Center for Cinematography (CNC) and the Future Technologies Project, funded by USAID and Sweden, are joining forces to develop the film and digital media industry in Moldova. A partnership agreement with the title "Start innovation in the digital media and film industry in Moldova" was recently signed by CNC head Valentina Iusuphodjaev and the director of the above-mentioned project, Doina Nistor.

The document establishes the commitment of the signatory parties to develop the digital and film media ecosystem in the Republic of Moldova. In this sense, the partners will have joint interventions in the following sectors: legislation, infrastructure, education, promotion and film production, animation. Among the actions included in the Partnership Agreement is the change of the operational model of the Moldova-Film Studio and its transformation into a Park of innovation and creativity in film that will provide economic and fiscal incentives to companies producing film and audiovisual content.

According to John Riordan, Deputy Head of the USAID Mission in Chisinau, our country can become a competitive player in the rising digital media and film industry globally. In this context, Valentina Iusuphodjaev stressed that the prioritization of this industry, the creation and implementation of policies favorable to the field can bring tangible results in a relatively short time: money in the national economy, quality content, international image and especially the feeling of pride for its own cultural value.

At the same time, the National Center for Cinematography and the Future Technologies Project will team up to create attractive legislative, financial and fiscal conditions for local and global film and audiovisual creators alike.

The project will provide assistance to the two key universities - the Academy of Music, Arts, Theater and Film and the State University of Moldova - in educating film and audiovisual professionals with skills in screenwriting, filming, camera and lighting operations, virtual production, VFX, video and audio post-production, production management and other areas needed for film and interactive digital media. Likewise, the Artcor and Mediacor centers of excellence will serve as hubs for continuous training for professionals and enthusiasts of audiovisual art. At the same time, the Republic of Moldova will increase its presence on the international film arena through promotional campaigns, participation in festivals and events abroad.
