Moldovan deputy premier meets European officials

Chisinau, March 3 / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration met today with Josep Borrell Fontelles, European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, the MAEIE press servie has reported.
"We have discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which is deeply affecting peace in our region. We mentioned that despite the challenges caused by the health, energy and economic crisis, our country has assumed the responsibility of neighbor and friendly state by showing solidarity and prompt identification of solutions for managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees, "said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.
The Moldovan official thanked the European partners for their prompt response to the Republic of Moldova and, consequently, for providing the necessary support to our country through the European Civil Protection Mechanism. Austria, Finland, France, Sweden, Greece, Lithuania, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Czech Republic - these are just a few EU member states that have announced assistance for the Republic of Moldova.
The head of diplomacy in Chisinau stressed that the irreversibility of the European integration process requires as much support and targeted investment as possible for economic recovery, strengthening resilience, political cooperation, participation in EU crisis management missions, combating misinformation and measures to ensure enhanced cyber security.
"Our path to the great European family has only one direction - modernizing and accelerating the reform agenda to ensure the prosperity and well-being of all our citizens," concluded Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu.
