Moldovan president meets students of pedagogical faculties in country

Chisinau, April 1 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu had a live and online discussion with students from the country's pedagogical faculties, the presidential  press service has reported.

The discussions referred to the role of the teacher in the 21st century and the way in which current students see their professional training at university, being outlined the requirements they will face in the classroom, at school. "People are the most valuable resource of our society, and it depends on the teachers how prepared and adaptable today's young people will be to the realities of tomorrow," said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state urged young people to get actively involved in the development of education, to become promoters of the principle of meritocracy in the field, and the state will look for mechanisms to encourage them to choose pedagogy - through good study, work and living conditions, scholarships and salaries according to their efforts. "It was a meeting that gave me an extra dose of optimism. I was glad to meet young enthusiasts from Balti, Chisinau, Comrat, Cahul and Taraclia, who understand that school is the most important investment for the state and for the people. And I was glad to see that, like me, future teachers believe in the power of education and the spirit of innovation. Together we can grow an educated, free and prosperous society, with a sustainable economy ", the head of state mentioned.

Maia Sandu's meeting with students from pedagogical faculties in the country was hosted by the State Pedagogical University Ion Creanga in Chisinau. Prior to the discussions with the students, the head of state also visited some of the premises of the National Center for Digital Innovation Class of the Future, created and equipped by USAID and other strategic partners of this institution. The president urged the team to expand its activities in as many localities as possible in the country in order to effectively apply the technologies in education.
