Moldovan customs officers annihilated attempt to illegally transport 240 thousand dollars

Chisinau, April 6 / MOLDPRES /- Moldovan customs officers annihilated yesterday an attempt to illegally transport 240 thousand dollars and eight thousand euros.

According to the Customs Service, the case was registered at the Cahul customs post and concerns a truck belonging to an economic agent from Moldova, who was traveling to Turkey, without goods. Based on the risk analysis, the customs officials ordered the detailed physical control of the transport unit. As a result, 240,000 US dollars and eight thousand euros were found in the truck's cabin, in the space intended for the installation of audio speakers, for the purpose of illicit transportation by not declaring customs control.

Subsequently, searches were carried out at the driver's home and at the home of the economic agent, from where mobile phones and computer equipment were picked up. At the same time, three weapons and bullets were seized from the driver's home for which the suspect did not have permissive documents. All the seized goods were sent for expertise.

The driver was detained for 72 hours.
