Moldovan cabinet approves categories of Banca de Economii depositors for payment of sums indexed in 2022

Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved the age categories of the Banca de Economii (Savings Bank) depositors for the payment of the sum indexed in 2022. These categories include the depositors born till 1991 inclusively, for the payment of the sum indexed in the second phase of the 2022 year. At the same time, decision-makers will continue the payment of the indexed sum, related to the first stage of depositors, born till 1991 inclusively, who failed to raise the money in the previous years, for various reasons.  

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, 86 million lei is provided for in the state budget for this year to compensate the losses for the money deposits of citizens at Banca de Economii. The payment of the sums indexed will be carried out through the Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) State Enterprise.  

The indexation and payment of the indexed sums is made in stages, depending on the depositor’s date of birth. The law stipulates the indexation, at the first stage, of the first 1,000 roubles of the cumulative balance at all accounts owned by a depositor in the ratio: 1 rouble to 1 leu. In the second phase, the balance which exceeds the first 1,000 of roubles is indexed at the ratio: 2.5 roubles to 1 leu.
