Sappers neutralized 81 explosives, 1,403 cartridges in April

Chisinau, May 5. / MOLDPRES /- In April, the National Army sappers carried out 19 demining missions in Chisinau and Balti municipalities, as well as in localities in the districts of Anenii Noi, Orhei, Dubasari, Straseni, Ialoveni, Sangerei, Falesti, Ungheni and Hincesti.

According to the head of the engineering service of the National Army, Igor Livițchi, in this period 81 explosive objects and 1,403 cartridges of different caliber were found and destroyed.

Thus, the Codru battalion sappers intervened in Șerpeni, Anenii Noi district, and identified three artillery shells, 6 anti-tank mines, 18 hand grenades, a rifle grenade, 3 warheads, trotil and 1,403 cartridges.

Also in April, engineers from the Moldova Motorized Infantry Brigade carried out a demining mission in Lipcani, Briceni district, where inhabitants discovered 20 artillery shells in the nearby forest.

All ammunition dates from the World War II and was liquidated in maximum security.

According to the statistics provided by the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the year, the National Army sappers have carried out 55 demining missions throughout the country, during which they destroyed 201 explosive objects of various types and 9,412 cartridges.
