Germany supports regionalization of water supply services for Briceni, Glodeni, Sangerei districts

Chisinau, May 5 / MOLDPRES /- The training of new skills in regionalization of water supply and sewerage services (AAC) and the consolidation of knowledge in this regard were the objectives of a training, conducted by Balti branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Moldova and the Regional Development Agency (ADR) North, as part of a planning project in water management implemented through the Innovation Fund for Sustainable Development Goals in Moldova.

The training took place yesterday, in Bălți, and brought together local public authorities, representatives of the business environment and of non-governmental organizations from Briceni, Glodeni and Sângerei districts.

"Regionalization of AAC services is a new concept for the Republic of Moldova and needs to be properly understood and applied. This process is a matter for local public authorities, who need support to carry out these tasks. Through this training, we want to facilitate the regionalization procedures, by informing the representatives of the local public administration authorities, to send the message to the local councils, in whose competence is the approval of the actions regarding the provision / provision of AAC services and implementation of infrastructure projects ", ADR Nord head Maria Prisacari said.

According to Elena Verenciuc, head of the Regional Planning and Cooperation Section of ADR Nord, the project SMART Planning in water management, in which the training took place, aims to create the necessary planning framework to attract investment in AAC and efficient planning of resources for ensure equitable access to quality water and sanitation services.

"The project will have an impact on the socio-economic life of Briceni, Glodeni and Sangerei districts in terms of better water quality, a wider range of agricultural and non-agricultural activities (economic diversification), tourism development due to access to AAC and necessary facilities in all fields of activity due to the use of investments in this field ", explained the quoted source.

The project SMART Planning in Water Management is implemented by ADR North through the Innovation Fund for Sustainable Development Goals in Moldova (SDG Innovation Fund Moldova), within the project Support for the Government of the Republic of Moldova in implementing the 2030 Agenda. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation.
