Gagauzia celebrates Hederlez event

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/- Today, the inhabitants of Gagauzia celebrate Hederlez, marked every year on the day when the Orthodox Christians of the old rite celebrate St George. On this occasion, a program of cultural and sports activities is planned in Ceadâr-Lunga.

The event's agenda includes agricultural and handicraft exhibitions, gastronomic areas, a parade of national costumes and a festive concert supported by artistic groups from the region. Also, several sports competitions are expected, the main one being the traditional horse race, organized by the horse breeding enterprise from Ceadâr-Lunga and the executive from Comrat.

The Ceadâr-Lunga competition is included in the national tourist agenda.

Also today, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița will be in Gagauz autonomy. The official will go to Fujikura Automotive MLD, which specializes in the production of wiring and other automotive components.

Gavrilita will go to the Center for the Rehabilitation of Survivors of Gender-Based Violence in Gagauzia and will visit the Recovery Center for Children in Ceadar-Lunga, specializing in the treatment of children with respiratory, musculoskeletal and nervous system diseases. At the end of the visit, Gavriliţa will participate in different events on this occasion.

In the last two years, during the pandemic, the Hedrelez event has either been postponed or run online.
