Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - The residents from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia today traditionally marked the Hederlez holiday, which symbolizes the beginning of a new agricultural season. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita participated in a festive event organized  on the occasion of the holiday and came up with a congratulatory message to the Gagauz people, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„Today we are happy with everything which the Gagauz culture has to offer the best and I would like such events to attract as many visitors as possible, both of Moldova and from abroad. Even if we face numerous difficulties, we can be proud with the fact that, in our country, we have always celebrated and appreciated the contribution of each community to Moldova’s cultural life. The motto of the European Union – unity through diversity – has been a reality for a long time in our country, where the dialogue and mutual respect represent foundation stones of our social cohesion,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

At the same time, the PM called on to unity and keeping peace in the society, in the context of the war which takes place in the vicinity. ‘’Certainly, all holidays are eclipsed by this war. It is important that we value the peace and good understanding in our society, to look not for the things which divide us, but the benchmarks which unite us, such the today’s holiday,’’ the PM said.

Also, Natalia Gavrilita noted that the cabinet’s agenda also comprised more projects, which will be carried out for the benefit of the people from UTA Gagauzia. Thus, 15 million lei will be allocated for the construction of a tourist complex at the horse farm from Ceadar-Lunga. Another sum will be earmarked for finishing the repair works at the Mihai Eminescu lyceum from Comrat.

„All which we want to edify nationally – a fully functional democracy, an independent justice, an economy with a fair competition and jobs – we edify for all Moldova’s citizens, including for you, those who live in the Gagauz autonomy. Yet, we can fulfill these desiderata with one condition: to be united and not let ourselves to be divided. And I am confident that we will succeed!’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.

For her part, the bashkan (governor) of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, stressed that the unity of our people would contribute to Moldova’s flourishing. ‘’We are everybody quite different, but, at the same time, many things unite us together – our traditions and the love for Moldova. The people who speak different languages love this land equally and I would very much like our country to live in peace and understanding,’’ the Comrat leader said.
