Moldovan foresters participated in profile workshop in Tulcea, Romania

Chisinau, May 11 / MOLDPRES /- Several Moldovan foresters have recently participated in an activity organized by the National Forest Directorate - Romsilva, within the Tulcea Forestry Directorate, at the invitation of Romanian colleagues.
This is an exchange of experience in the field of forest protection, with the main theme "Theoretical and practical training on non-chemical control methods and to determine the effectiveness of treatments and real defoliation caused by the pest Lymantria disappear". This workshop was attended by specialists from the Moldsilva Agency, forestry enterprises from Orhei, Chisinau, Straseni, Hincesti, as well as from the Institute of Forestry Research and Management, who presented their local experience in the field of forest protection.
"During the activities in Tulcea, the foresters on both banks of the Prut were involved in theoretical activities related to forest protection, and the practical component of this forum was made in the forest fund of the host forestry entity. The participants specified the measures to be applied in order to control the pest Lymantria dispar L. (hairy oak caterpillar), the useful terms and parameters of the intervention of foresters in such cases ", Moldsilva says.
At the same time, studies and research results were presented on the possibilities of using entomopathogenic preparations in the control of defoliator.
"The usefulness of such joint practical activities significantly increases the capacity to combat forest pests, and Moldovan foresters are grateful for the availability of the Romanian side to share practices in the field, the tradition of mutually beneficial collaboration and the development of professional skills, by promoting the exchange of experience," a statement of the Moldsilva Agency reads.
