Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 215 traffic accidents have occurred in Moldova because of the failure to adapt the speed to the road conditions since early 2022. A number of 244 people were injured and 32 died in the wake of the accidents.
According to the General Police Inspectorate’s (IGP) National Public Security Inspectorate (INSP), the excessive speed remains one of the principal reasons for the traffic accidents.
„Following an analysis carried out, in three hours alone, a police crew working with the speed measuring apparatus TruCam records, on average, about 20 infringements of the road traffic regulations, where drivers commit the exceeding of the speed by over 20 km/hour above the limit provided for on the concerned road segment,’’ a INSP press release reads.
Law-enforcers urge drivers to be prudent and observe the road traffic regulations and inform that 53,930 reports have been drawn up since the beginning of this year for exceeding the speed limit.
