Investment project carried out at Ungheni Agroindustrial College

Chisinau, May 13 / MOLDPRES /- Ungheni Agro-Industrial College benefits from a large investment project carried out by the Moldovan government, from the sources of the European Investment Bank, under the project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry -Livada Moldovei. The program was officially launched yesterday in the presence of development partners.

"For our country, it is very important that the pupils and students from the profile educational centers have access to the most modern technologies. We want a competitive agricultural sector and for local products to be appreciated by both local and foreign consumers. Through the European Investment Bank it is possible to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and to provide better educational conditions for the educational environment. I urge you to be vectors of change and to continue your higher studies at the State Agrarian University, which is in the process of reforming ", relevant minister Viorel Gherciu said.

So far, over 291 thousand euros have been invested in modernizing and equipping the institution. The amount was directed to the planting of 1.2 ha of cherries, sour cherries, hair, currants and blackberries, equipped with support system and weather station.

At the same time, a tractor, adjacent agricultural machinery, IT equipment were purchased, and a greenhouse with an area of ​​320 m2 was built, equipped with state-of-the-art hydroponic growing systems and all the equipment necessary to create an optimal microclimate for growing plants, using intensive methods.

Thanks to the investments made, over 350 students of the Ungheni Agro-Industrial College will learn to grow lettuce, flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, using European technologies.

More than 250 economic agents from Ungheni, Nisporeni and Călărași districts will be able to benefit from the educational and continuous training services offered by the Ungheni Agroindustrial College.

The second stage of the project is currently underway, which involves renovating and equipping with the necessary teaching equipment a laboratory for processing horticultural products and a laboratory for repair and maintenance of horticultural equipment, with a total area of 720 m2. The total value of the investments will amount to 779 thousand euros.

The investments are made under the Livada Moldovei Project initiated by the Moldovan government and supported by the European Investment Bank. About 12 million euros are invested in the rehabilitation and endowment of 10 educational and research institutions with a horticultural profile.
