Chisinau, June 1 / MOLDPRES /- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Government of Japan today donated a batch of medicines for the treatment of cancer patients to the Chisinau Oncology Institute.

Medicines worth more than $ 155,000 will be used to treat cancer patients, including the approximately 250 refugee patients in Ukraine who are currently receiving treatment at the Oncology Institute.

The event noted that since the start of the war in Ukraine, the pharmaceutical market, but also the Oncology Institute, has faced a shortage of preparations produced by Ukraine and Russia, and the drug supply chain has been disrupted with the closure of the port of Odessa. Thus, the batch of donated drugs today comes in support of the Chisinau authorities, who are looking for solutions to ensure the treatment of all people and refugees.

IOM representatives appreciated the efforts of the authorities in the process of managing the refugee crisis and reiterated that they will continue to support the Republic of Moldova, so that all those who need help can receive it.
