Germany to continue to provide assistance in preventing, combating corruption in agriculture

Chisinau, June 2 / MOLDPRES /- Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gherciu met yesterday with Siegmund Mueller, the country director of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The parties discussed the priority directions of intervention, in which MAIA and its subordinate institutions could benefit from the assistance of a German project.

The officials reviewed the mechanisms and actions to be taken to prevent and combat corruption in the public sector, to strengthen state institutions and to promote integrity among civil servants.

"We want to benefit from support in transposing anti-corruption standards into the work of state institutions. We want to jointly identify viable solutions and effective actions to prevent acts of corruption, especially in the process of managing public finances ", Viorel Gherciu said.

For their part, GIZ representatives said they would support the continued implementation of anti-corruption initiatives, including through awareness-raising and awareness-raising campaigns on anti-corruption and anti-corruption practices.

The project Strengthening the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova is co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation.
