Some consular services to become more accessible in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cost of the consular services provided to Moldova’s citizens from abroad will be decreased. The parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration today approved a draft on amendment of the law on the consular taxes.
Thus, the taxes related to the providing of consular services will be removed. At the same time, decision-makers will cut by 50 per cent the taxes set for the processing and issuance of the passport of citizen of Moldova, for the consular actions in the citizenship field, registration of the acts of birth and marriage, for the fulfilling of notary acts, for consular over-legalization and other consular actions. Additionally, they propose to remove at a level of 100 per cent the consular taxes related to the processing the string of documents for getting the passport of Moldova’s citizen for the people who have not turned 18 years.
In the current formula, at a request by a service through consular offices, Moldova’s citizens pay an overall cost made up of the following components: the tax collected by the Public Services Agency; the consular tax and the related expenses. If citizens additionally ask for also the shipment of acts through courier services, the cost for the sending of the concerned acts home is added too.
