Moldovan-Romanian customs authorities to implement measures to unblock border situation

Chisinau, June 10 / MOLDPRES /- The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova and the Romanian Service will implement starting today emergency measures to streamline traffic and reduce the waiting time at customs posts in the country. The measures were agreed by both sides.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the document provides for the establishment of a joint action group to coordinate and synchronize the immediate activities of Moldovan and Romanian authorities at border crossings to reduce waiting times for trucks.

Also, it was established that the first border point, where the control and customs clearance will be done in joint teams will be Leușeni-Albița. Another measure is the operationalization of customs control on the Romanian side, by equipping it with several electronic devices for processing EU transport documents.

At the same time, it was decided to supplement the number of customs workers, synchronize the work schedule between the control teams in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, ensure the 24/7 operation of phytosanitary and sanitary-veterinary authorities in Romania and allow empty trucks to transit through transit points. low capacity crossing.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the current situation shows that the waiting lines at the border crossing points have increased sharply in the last 3 days, from queues of 4-6 km to those of 10-12 km. On 24 February -26 May about 750 thousand means of transport crossed the border crossing points between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, registering a doubling of the transit traffic to Leuseni. At the same time, since the beginning of the war, the number of export customs declarations for goods has increased by 73%.
