Chisinau, June 21 / MOLDPRES /- Over 400 members of the National Army are taking part in the Peace Shield exercise on 20-24 June.
Evaluation team leader Sorin Bacalu said that during the exercise, the participating subunits are evaluated in accordance with the Concept of Operational Capabilities (OCC), which is a mandatory condition for participation in external peacekeeping operations. The military is checked in the performance of missions specific to international theaters of operations.
This year, two infantry subunits, as well as a sapper group are being tested by national and international evaluators from Norway, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Georgia, Austria and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
According to the source, OCC certification is a prerequisite for the participation of the National Army in UN-sponsored peacekeeping missions, including KFOR in Kosovo.
The National Army joined the OCC in 2007.
