Government approves exemption of taxes on personal assets for Moldovans returning from Diaspora

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens ruling to return home will be exempted from taxes at the import of assets for personal use and of a transport means. In this respect, the cabinet gave a positive note to a legislative initiative which provides facilities to the Moldovans who left more than three years ago, who have stay permit, confirmatory acts showing that they paid taxes in the concerned country, as well as valid driver’s licence for the category the transport means belong to, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The exemption from the payment of the rights of import for the transport means will be applied for the vehicles with exploitation term of up to 7 years and the value in customs does not exceed 400,000 lei. The transport means will not be able to be sold, pledged, donated, given in possession or use during 5 years. Otherwise, the beneficiary will pay all rights of import in force at the moment of benefiting from the concerned facilities.
The Public Services Agency will release distinct matriculation plates for the concerned vehicles and if law-enforcers find in traffic a transport means introduced with exemptions, driven by a third person, other than the beneficiary and the husband/wife, the person will be punished contraventionally, with the payment of all rights of import.
The draft also sees that the person will be able to ask for and benefit from facilities only one time and for one transport means. The personal use objects for household needs will be exempted from the rights of import, also, within the limit of one unit for each type of object.
Citizens will submit an application, accompanied by a string of confirmatory acts, for the providing of this facility.
