Magistrates extend preventive measure against suspended Prosecutor General of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The magistrates of the Chisinau Court, Ciocana district, today extended the preventive measure of temporary release from legal restrictions against the suspended Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo.    

According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the judges considered the approach on the prolongation of the preventive measure for a 60-day period. They instructed the partial admission and extended the measure by 30 days.   

On the next period, the case prosecutor is to analyze the reasons which stayed at the basis of the partial admission of the approach and will decide on the appealing of the ruling at the Chisinau Court of Appeal.  

The suspended Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo, is charged with the committing of the offence of infringing the inviolability of the private life of a decision-maker. He is accused of having entered in possession of private correspondence of the former chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office with other persons. Afterwards, Stoianoglo gave a news briefing at the headquarters of the Prosecutor General’s Office, during which he would have spread information protected by the law about the personal and professional life of the former chief prosecutor, which would represent a personal secret.
