Moldovan president welcomes team representing country at European Youth Olympic Festival

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today handed  Moldova’s State Flag to the team of sportspeople, which is to represent the country at the European Youth Olympic Festival, due in Slovakia starting from 23 July, the presidential press service has reported.    

„I congratulated the young people for the performances achieved so far and which brought them to the first Olympic competition in their lives. I noted, at the same time, that they have an important and responsible task, which exceeds the limits of sport -, as, by representing the country with dignity, they will promote Moldova in the world,’’ the head of state in an addressing to the team of young sportsmen.   

At the same time, Maia Sandu said that the European Youth Olympic Festival was about the sports excellence, as well as about friendship, respect and good understanding between people and nations. ‘’I wish the young sportspeople that the talent and work carried out so far bring them results and become reason for pride for the entire country. And we will watch them at home and will show solidarity with them,’’ Maia Sandu said.
