Moldovans working in Spain to benefit from pensions

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens who work or carried out a labour activity in Spain will be able to benefit from pension in this country upon reaching the retirement age.  

Moldova and Spain signed the agreement in the social security sector and the administrative arrangement for its enforcement. The documents’ goal is to ensure a framework of guarantees in the field of social insurances for the migrant workers from both states, who work or carried out a legal labour activity and presently reside on the territory one of the two countries.

The treaties guarantee for the citizens of Moldova and Spain the right to old age pension, survivor pension, disability pension caused by general diseases, disability pension and allowance triggered by labour accidents and professional diseases, provided on behalf of the state where they worked legally. Each country will enforce the national legislation in the field and the pension will be transferred monthly to the beneficiary on the territory of the state where he/she lives.    

The documents are to be ratified by both states. Moldova signed international agreements in the social security sector with 14 states: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Hungary. At the same time, another two agreements signed with Greece and Italy are to be ratified.
