Moldovan president meets Head of EU Delegation in Chisinau

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks. The officials discussed the country’s European agenda and the next steps on the way of accession to the European Union.
According to the presidential press service, one of these steps is the action plan for the fulfillment of the conditions contained in the European Commission’s Opinion on giving Moldova the status of country candidate from 17 June. The action plan was prepared by the government and is at the phase of consultations with the civil society, cabinet’s representatives and other actors interested.
The head of state said that the ensuring of Moldova’s energy security was the priority of the moment and the country counted on the European Union’s support in this context. At the same time, Maia Sandu expressed gratitude for the EU’s recent decision to provide Moldova with budgetary support worth up to 75 million euros. This support will help the country easier manage the energy crisis.
