Young people to receive cultural vouchers to go to theatre, exhibitions, concerts in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved the notification of the draft law, which sees the providing of cultural vouchers to young people. Thus, upon the turning of the age of 18 years, young people will receive a sum of 1,000 lei in their governmental account, which they will be able to use to go to concerts, theatres, museums, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The new mechanism has the goal, on the one hand, to motivate young people to be enlightened and rest more often and on the other hand – to support and finance the culture, thus stimulating the theatres and concert institutions diversify their repertoire.     

The document shows also the conditions of providing vouchers, the way of using the virtual account, the subjects of this programme and the way of financing.  

Such practices of encouraging young people to participate in cultural activities and artistic manifestations are recorded in Romania, Spain, France, Slovakia, Italy.  In Moldova, the draft is to be enforced starting from 2023.
